The Historic city of York is well known for the river Ouse to flood several times each year causing thousands each time it breaks its banks.

JN Bentley won the contract to heighten the walls and place a floodgate at the end of Clementhorpe road.

1st Defence Fabrications were approached to quote for the gate which we managed to secure.

Along with JN Bentley, EA and 1st Defence the solution was going to be a double bi-folding gate.

To cover the 12m opening and a height of 1.8m.

Also, the gate needed a permanent fixing so it could be tested at any given time.

With these gates being so large the locals were not keen on them being on show, so 1st Defence had to come up with covers for the gate.
